Ravenloft is a PC housing Mod.
Yes, yes, yes... I know. Yet Another One!
But this one is different!! I swear! :)
For starters - it is Huge! Trust me. It consists of 8 main rooms connected through the Main Hall, with God alone knows how many minor rooms. The main rooms are Quarters, Library, Armory, Mage's Lab, Dojo, Thief's Den, Closet, and Teleportation Chamber. The minor rooms include, among others, Sanctum, Swimming Pool, Cellar, Attic, and some few display rooms. There are also some hidden rooms for the player to find (such as Secret Ninja Shrine, and Secret Mage Display).
As I said... the place is Huge.
I count 33 rooms total. See if you can find them all. :)
And yet... its also Cozy. I put great effort in furnishing and re-texturing so that the feeling when you enter the place is warm and homely rather than making you feel like you are in an empty airplane hangar. Another part of the effort to cyzify the place was to make it appear un-empty, even with nothing on the shelves and naked mannequins. It is up to you to decorate and fill the place up, but even without all the stuff you can bring in, the place looks well. Or so I think. Please let me know if you think I was successful in this.
Another feature which make Ravenloft different than most of the other housing mods is that it has no exterior. In its original form (i.e. with no add-ons) it does not interfere with the outside world at all. The entrance is gained by a way of a special teleportation amulet, which can (again, without add-ons) only be obtained via a console command.
One other peculiarity you might encounter in Ravenloft is the Attic. It is a large empty space, (a 5dom of rooms, actually), with seemingly no purpose at all. Well... the purpose of the attic is to provide space for your own furnishings and stuff, which you might acquire from using mods which sell furniture, art, mannequines, dummies, and so on. I have always though it to be a weakness of the existing houses that they fail to provide room for the house to grow and be in-game customized. So this is where the Attic comes in.
In addition, even though Ravenloft is empty of any items and does not provide cheats or hints about the actual game, it does provide, for a fee, services of a smith (via the Anvil inside the Smithy and the Armory) and Felix the Skull inside the Mage's Lab offers spellmaking and enchanting services. Also for a fee. Several "shrines" are distributed within Ravenloft to provide healing and additional bonuses, but they are mostly within the various hidden chambers which you first have to find, hehe. Some of them charge for the service (as real shrines do), while others will not offer you anything untill your character is of sufficiently advanced level as not to unbalance the game.
Other feature worth emphasising is the already mentioned Challenge Pits room which
offers a multitude of ways for the player to test him/herself in a combad against
real, progressively tougher opponents. In addition to the working practice dummies
inside the Dojo, it provides for an excellent workout.
The Teleportation Chamber provides teleporters to most major places in Vvardenfell. All the cities and villages (including the official extensions), all strongholds and all stronghold ruins are covered, along with other places of interest, like major shrines and the such. Even some dungeons are included among the destinations.
A nice and rich in-house teleportation system is provided for the player, so no boring running around from room to room any more. You can reach virtually any room from any other by means of clicking on a conveniently provided button. Great, ain't it? :)
Pretty much the only feature common to major house mods which I did not incorporated into Ravenloft is the alchemy ingredients jars and sorter. But I have to admit I was never much of an alchemist, and so never found much use for dedicated ingredient jars past the most rudimentary. As a matter of fact, each time I played a mod wich included such facility, I found it cumbersome to look for ingredients with just the right effects across many containers. Easier to have them all in one, and simply slide the mouse over untill you find what you are looking for. Having said that, it is possible that I will include alchemy sorter in the future. Maybe you wish to help?... :)
All in all, my plan when designing this mod was to create a perfect house, with all the possible amenities I could think of. I am pretty pleased with the way it came out, although it took many many hours of designing, re-designing, experimenting, and play-testing. This is my flagship mod, and I am pretty proud of that. I hope you can enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed creating it for you.
Issues:
None that I know of.
I tried to keep this mode very clean.
However, please email me if you find any problems.
Downloads:
Ravenloft can be downloaded from the Downloads Page.
Note on Ravenloft add-ons:
There are several add-ons to the main Ravenloft mod. They include some
exteriors, some dungeons, as well as the ravenloft amulet placements so you
do not have to use the console to enjoy the mod.
You can download them all
from the same Downloads Page as Ravenloft itself.
